I’m not really sure if it’s just dawned on me or I have actually known it all the time and have just been afraid to say it out loud. But for some reason I’m now over the fear and am willingly ready to admit, that in terms of selling my art, I have no idea what I am doing.
No amount of ‘wisdom’ the kind that floats freely around the internet like intellectual sewage in the guise of courses or ‘ten reasons why your art doesn’t sell and what to do about it’, will convince me otherwise or hold me back from the truth, which is, ‘I do not know what I am doing in terms of selling my own art.’ And to finally admit that, is, I have to tell you, one hell of a relief. I can finally ditch the responsibility, take a deep breath and finally admit that it is ALL up to you. After all, I paint the damn things, isn’t that enough? OK. One concession. I DO need to tell you that a work is done and dusted, the rest is definetly UP TO YOU.
