What follows are a rare collection of Arthur Blondell’s poems/observations/battle hymns. Known as ‘The Blonnets’.
Arthur Blondell, a contemporary of William Shakespeare, was well known in London theatre world and was once summoned by Queen Elizabeth 1 to give a personal reading. Unfortunately, it is said the Queen collapsed in a fit of giggles within two minutes of the audience beginning and famously soiled herself, giving rise to the ribald yet popular (and at the time banned) folk song…’The Queen is Pissed’.
Unfortunately, this incident ruined Blondell’s credibility and he died in obscurity a few years later.
