Isolated.

Word has it that in a few weeks/days (?) time it will be impossible to enter or leave Stratford upon Avon due to roads being closed off. We shall become isolated. A shadow of our former selves the only way out will be by air, so if you have an acquaintance with a micro-light or helicopter now is the time to book a seat.

None of this is happening because of a virus outbreak or a monster on the loose, but (so I am told) all at the whim of some new boy at the Council. Apparently wanting to make his mark he has decided to get everything done all at the same time and for some reason there is no stopping him.

So, unless the madness can be bought to a sudden halt, we are being ghettoised for most of the summer. We will survive but to make sure that the pain is bearable I have some simple advice…

• Make an effort. Get to know your neighbours and if possible, make new friends. You never know when you might need them.

• Get or if you have an allotment, prepare it.

• Learn to hunt.

• Ration what you have, sensibly.

Remember also, to fight the good fight. You don’t have to accept this. The Council work for you. They are there to plough your furrow. To ease the way. To make life better. Complain. Always complain. And complain again. Be like Dr/Rev/People’s champion Roy Lodge and write book-length letters to the Stratford upon Avon Herald. Copy his style and write letters that numb the senses, leaving the reader confused and disorientated and more likely to see the error of his/her ways.

• Let there be no sleep for the wicked.

See you on the other side.

We shall overcome.

Ian is a Stratfordian and quite angry about all sorts of things, Local, National and in fact, everything World-Wide. For the sake of his mental health he has chosen to Vent his Spleen in a blog. He advises YOU dear reader to do the same.

I would be interested to know your thoughts...
