How to be
1. Don’t be frightened.
Of course, there will be times when you are frightened. Fear can be a natural response to keep you out of danger (fight or flight). I’m talking about the fear of being yourself. Life is too short to be anything but yourself. Go for it.
2. Follow your dreams.
…but be aware that a dream might be what it is…just a dream, a flight of fancy. Be ready – (you will know when)- to admit it to yourself. But try to remember what you have learnt on the way, then move on.
3. Make mistakes.
We all do. Learn from them so you don’t repeat them.
4. Love yourself.
Not in an arrogant way. Just be aware that you are special insomuch that you are unique. There is no one in the whole wide world like you.
5. Be kind.
Sometimes that feeling of superiority over others can kick in. Fight it. You don’t have enough information to judge others. You don’t know what they are going through or have gone through to make them who they are.
6. Ask questions.
If there’s anything you need to know…don’t be embarrassed to ask. That’s how we learn.
7. FORGIVE (this is a big one).
No matter what others have done to you, do try to forgive them no matter how difficult it is. Hatred, bitterness works from the inside out. It will eat you up, make you ill and destroy you.
8. The Truth is not always the best way.
Difficult. Be diplomatic (see 5).
Try to put yourself in another’s shoes. Try to imagine why they behave as they do. Try to understand then relate to number 7.
10. Find a place of solitude and peace.
Be it in your head or a physical place. Spend some time there. Relax. Withdraw. Rest. Recharge.
