A spokesperson for Stratford upon Avon Town Council confirmed today that Councillors were seriously looking at the Firs Gardens for the site of Stratford’s second cemetery.
‘Although the traditional site on the Evesham road is very popular it has been in use for a long period of time. We are at the stage where we have to face the fact that spaces are becoming limited. Another couple of years and it will be full. It is therefore good management to look further afield for other sites to bury our dead. The council are also looking at Seven Meadows and The Recreation ground. Due to the urgency of the problem, discussions have also been held concerning the use of Stratford’s larger traffic islands although I should add that these conversations are still in the early stages’.
