A selection of abstract paintings by Ian Frederick Harris.
I’ve long given up on attempting an explanation of the abstract painting. On the whys and the wherefores.
All I can say is that when the mood takes me, I let myself go on the canvas. Rather than me controlling the paint it’s very much the other way around. In other words, I follow the paint.
That, I guess is not how everyone approaches the Abstract. That’s just me.
However, I always know whether it has ‘worked’ or not. There’s a moment. A certain satisfaction that just happens. A moment that lets me know that the work is finished and it’s OK to let it be seen and judged. A time for others to hopefully get something from it and make up their own minds.
Get it?
No, me neither…
Pictures in my head
On fire in confusion
For now, they are yours.
