Hello…come on in.

WHAT’S ALL THIS THEN?

WELCOME TO THE STRATFORDIAN’S ART & BLOG…

The Stratfordian, my blog has been going for a few years now and for me its been vital. It’s a place where I can express myself. Because it’s my space I can  give my opinion (popular or otherwise) concerning this country or this town and get a lot of stuff off my chest. It does me the world of good.

One of the problems of maintaining a website is that you are constantly on the look-out for ‘traffic’. People. Readers. If you haven’t got readers what’s the point. So this is a plea. Come in.

Have a read but above all, Comment. There should be a form to fill in at the bottom of each article/post and space to tell me your own view about what I have written.

So please give me your thoughts. It helps.

Also…

If you would like to write something to express your opinion do get in touch, ianfharris@outlook.com and we will see what we can do about showing it on the blog.

As you can see I’m also using the website to sell and get my art seen…so please read on….

———————————-

My art.

My art is without question ‘Naive’.

I make no bones about that and although I found for a long time that I lacked the courage to move forward and show it, I eventually came to the conclusion that I had something to say and say it I would. My lack of formal training was not going to stop me.

Indeed, I believe that there are too many of us who have been thwarted from doing what we know we must do,  because ‘proper training’ has proved either too expensive, or we have been told (usually by people who should know better – career advisors etc)  ‘that it is not for the likes of us’.  The fact is those naysayers can be proved easily wrong by history and the number of artists, writers etc who came from what people like to call,  ‘nowhere’.

If there is an enemy to be had in the artistic world it is, confidence. The belief in oneself. It is true I think, that formal training goes a long way to providing that. We, ‘the untrained’ have a hard battle to fight. But what we lack in training we make up for in stubbornness and the aforementioned desperate need to be heard. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

So my friends, whatever you think of my work. Whatever you get from it. Know that at the very least it comes from my heart and above all is, HONEST.

P.S. If you would like a signed copy of any painting on A4 glossy photographic paper for £10 (inc postage UK only) email me on ianfharris@outlook.com OR if you would like your portrait painted my style for £40 get in touch, email me (above).
